What Is Mold?
Molds and mildew are forms of fungi found all year round
both indoors and outdoors. There are thousands of
species of mold and they can be any color. Mold growth
is encouraged by warm and humid conditions, although it
can grow during cold weather. Many times, mold can be
detected by a musty odor. |
How Does Mold Enter A Home?
Mold spores may enter your house from the outside
through open doorways, windows, and heating,
ventilation, and air conditioning systems with outdoor
air intakes. Spores in the air outside also attach
themselves to people and animals, making clothing,
shoes, bags, and pets convenient vehicles for carrying
mold indoors. |
Is Mold Dangerous?
The molds that produce airborne toxins can cause serious
symptoms, such as breathing difficulties, memory and
hearing loss, dizziness, flu-like symptoms, and acid
reflux. The most dangerous mold strains are: Chaetomium
and Stachybotrys chartarum as they have been proven to
produce demylenating mycotoxins among others. |
